HSBC is one of the largest banking corporations in the world. It takes it name from the founding member - The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. In 1992, the company HSBC Holdings completed the takeover of the UK bank, the Midland Bank. This meant that HSBC was now firmly established in Europe and in particular the UK. The Midland brand name was replaced by HSBC and it still very strong today. HSBC have a complete range of personal finance products, including obviously credit cards.

The credit cards currently availble include the following

• Classic Plus Credit Card -- this is a Mastercard product and is available to the slightly lower part of the market to the Gold Credit Card. It has a range of features inclusing a 0% balance transfer offer and an introductory 0% on purchases offer.
• Gold Credit Card -- this VISA card, is the top of the range card and so has a slightly lower APR than the classic plus card. It has the same balance transfer and new purchase offers.
• Online Credit Card -- this card is only available online and so offers a very competitive APR. It also has balance transfer and introductory purchase offers, but they are not quite as competitive as the Gold or Classic offers.

You can apply for any the above cards online and also manage account online once the application has been accepted. None of cards attract an annual fee and all come with a 'save shopping promise' to protect against the fraudulent use of the card or card number on the internet.
